This post only in Finnish.
(Here’s my idea of riding from west to east on gravelroads near Helsinki! Video is only in Finnish.)
It’s already almost 2 years ago when I was looking new tires for my bike and I was especially interested about Motoz tires. I was thinking I want to have better grip than I had with my first Motoz tires but I still wanted to have almost as good amount of kilometers! (At least with the rear tire!) So I made the order then and now finally I have the tires in my bike. Rear tire is Motoz Tractinator Desert
And the front tire is Motoz Tractinator DV (DualVenture)
But it seems that my order was made wrong way around! The front tire should last kilometers very well and rear tire will not. Well… I have these now and it is what it is. I was testing the new tires now for the first time and I made a video (This video is only in Finnish):
I took the commuter train to Hanko peninsula and I had my bicycle with me. I had also a route that I was going to follow from Santala (Sandö) to Skogby. I had been bicycling in Hanko area before so I knew it was going to be beautiful!
Again I found quite a lot of tracks that I didn’t ride before. Not with my bicycle or even by motorcycle. And ofcourse I planned the route go through the Lappohja beach area!
There was quite many swimmers in that ice-cold seawater! But they were all swans… I was thinking to go and I regret it that I didn’t do it!
Finally after 18,5 kilometers of riding I arrived to Skogby village and there is an old abandoned wooden house just beside the train station. I think it used to be a school and a daycare center.
And in the yard of this house I found it! There was a SPRING!
Winter 2025-26 has been very cold! And suddenly it is possible even here in the southern parts of the country to take your bike and go riding on the frozen lake or sea. This has been quite rare lately… This winter the longest official ice road of Europe was opened few days ago (Koli Ice Road) and surprisingly in Estonia they opened the official Ice Road between Hiiumaa and Saarenmaa.
The law about riding (or driving) on the ice is interesting! You can actually do it even you don’t have the driver’s licence!! You just have to be 15 years of age or older. Elsewhere, you can only drive without a driver’s license in a closed area (e.g. racetracks) or on private property. And if you go riding (driving) to these official Ice Roads then you need to have the driver’s licence!
Official Text: Driving a car or snowmobile on ice is regulated by the Water Act and the Off-Road Traffic Act, as well as by the Road Traffic Act with regard to official state ice roads. Everyone has the right to travel on waterways or ice without causing unnecessary damage, harm, or disturbance. Motor vehicles such as snowmobiles, motorcycles, cars, and ATVs may be driven on ice by persons aged 15 and over. The age restriction does not apply to driving in closed areas. The maximum speed limit on ice is 80 km/h. When driving a motor vehicle on ice, care and caution must be exercised. No harm should be caused to nature, the environment, residential areas, fishing, or general recreational use. It is advisable to keep a good distance from coastal settlements and cottages, as the greatest harm caused by motor vehicles is noise and traffic safety hazards. The police enforce the Road Traffic Act, the Off-Road Traffic Act, and the Water Traffic Act. On state-maintained ice roads, the Road Traffic Act must be observed on ice roads maintained by the state, i.e., only persons with a driver’s license may drive on ice roads.

I will add two videos to this post. They’re not mine but both are great riding on the ice!
There was only a couple new models this year to the market. So in this video I’m also making some comparing with older models. And unfortunately this video is only in Finnish!

I was riding in the 8th of November but was it the last time?
It was in July 2024 when I had made the route in Bromarv peninsula for a short adventure. And I went there with the camera… but I forgot to take the spare battery! So I couldn’t shoot everything that time. Finally now I made “the same” and now I had spare batteries for the camera. There is also this one “famous” Padva beach on that Bromarv peninsula.
I’ve been riding around Karkkila – Pilpala area now already 2 times to find the new route for section 13! First time was 11th of October and second time was 25th of October. In the map those 2 times look like this:
And luckily now I can say that Yes I have found the new route for the section 13 and the update will be published soon. I can definitely say that the area near Cafe Lättis has some very nice roads and tracks and now I know the area quite well. Ofcourse I made the videos and you can watch them here:
Make sure you will always have the latest version of TET tracks when you go riding! Download the TET Finland here: https://transeurotrail.org/finland/
I’m calling this as “my baby” because it goes so close to the place where I live. But the section 5 was updated quite many times since it was published with it’s full length. It has “south part” from Siuntio to Turku and it has “north part” from Mynämäki to Räyskälä. Now it was time to make the north part at least little bit better! The section has mainly quite big gravel roads all the way from Mynämäki to Somero. Now I decided to check is there better and smaller roads between Heikin Laavu Lean-To shelter and Somero. This is only about 30km’s.
