It was such a wonderful weather today! I took my XR and rode west. I had few motocache missing from my found list. But first I took Mustio ironworks area because I wanted to make a new cache there!

That is an old mining locomotive from 1903. Both vehicles are made in Germany.
Then I continued on with some gravel-road riding. This time of the year they are in very good condition!

Then finally I reached my destination very close to Hanko city (Most southern point of Finland). There is a spring that bubbles clear water all year. And this spring is famous because the wife of Russian tsar Alexander III wanted to stop here and drink many times on her boat trips in the gulf of Finland. Her name was Dagmar.
The forrest around the spring is very nice!

And the water in the spring is crystal clear!
There are 2 different kind of stairs to the spring: The old stone stairs and the new wooden stairs.

Actually it was already in june when I tested this. But I was so much waiting for my new bike (BMW S1000XR) to arrive that I just couldn’t make a review of this. Now I can.
The size of this bike is HUGE! I mean it is really big, it’s wide and it’s tall but luckily it’s not too heavy! When you take the seat you’ll notice that it’s actually quite easy to handle and the sound from the engine is not loud.Riding the bike is also very easy! For the first time for me (in KTM) the throttle is actually very much possible to operate. It doesn’t give that On-Off feeling! But still if you just twist the throttle it gives you acceleration that makes your wrists stretch a lot!
Off-Road riding is pretty much the same than in GS. The size of the bike is not a good thing in the middle of the forest.
Because of the size it feels closer to GS than XR (My opinion). And it was the first KTM that I actually liked!

Took this ride again… I have to make it at least once in a year and it really is a special ride. The road has nice corners…. with VERY NICE uphills and downhills and that makes the bike maybe a fly a bit… if you turn the throttle in a right place just a little!
It’s definitely a top 3 road in Finland!
And here we go…
Year ago I had S1000R and the camera was in my helmet:

I think it’s working very nicely in the gravel! But the real Off-Road is something else… I wouldn’t do that.
Here’s a video from week ago when I took 24 kilometers in gravel…
(sorry about the nasty sound when the windshield is hitting the camera)
I have been riding this road usually 5-10 times every summer so I know it quite well. But still I love it! And now finally I found a good place for my GoPro camera in my S1000XR I have some video for you all!
This is Fagervikintie in south-west Finland, very near to the sea. In the map you’ll find it here!
From east to west the road has 60km/h speedlimit first. Then there’s a 500 meters part that is a museumroad and it has 40km/h speed limit. But after that you can open the throttle with 80km/h speed limit -and I must tell you there are few corners where you can’t even ride 80! Maybe 50 or 60 at most!
My favorite place this summer so far… With this “totem”?
I’ve never tried this before. Now I had the chance to make few runs and it was so much fun!
Here’s a reference list of quite many bike models of what could be possible. XR is not in the list but S1000R is and someone has made it 10,34@138,4mph (222km/h)
My first run ever was 13,918@157km/h, second was 13,217@169km/h and third 12,664@178km/h
Here’s my third run in video.
XR has the electronics to make this quite easy! Don’t mind about rear wheel burning too much rubber, don’t mind about wheelies or don’t mind about the clutch at all. Just remember to run the gears up while you’re accelerating!

Then later I took 3 more runs. First 12,171@185km/h, second 11,899@187km/h and the last was 13,774@120km/h. This was the first attemp with actually full throttle from the start and that made the front wheel fly…. And I don’t have the skills to do that so I kind of panicked! Here’s one video I took of a battle CBR600F Vs ZX-12R:
And finally a friend of mine had my best run on video… So here it is 11,899sek!

Let’s Walk!
