Last sunday it was three KTM 690 Enduro bikes testing the forestpaths in Kirkkonummi and Siuntio. The roads are mostly dry but the forest has much more shadowplaces and it means more snow and ice!

The first video is a track I found last summer… But in the summertime it’s too wet, now it’s mostly ice:
I fell through the ice there and it’s not easy to move the bike away from the hole with the boots that has no grip! But I did it…

Second video is a ride near aluminium factory in Pikkala:
And third video is a very nice track under the powerline between Karskog and Evitskog:
I did not have any spikes in my tires so for me it was very slippery and I had to be very careful!

Finally the weather was like I could go and test my WLToys v303 drone. Except ofcourse that it was cloudy and everyhting is gray! Yes the camera is not black n white, it’s just the way it looks in Finland.
I was flying 2 times. I thought there was no wind but still it seemed that drone was drifting away all the time. From the first flight I managed to get it down without any harm but then the second flight was a disaster. 3 legs brokes and the body of the drone also cracked. Spare parts will be something like 120 euros!
I got myself a drone, I was trying to get something good enough so I wouldn’t think right away that this is only a toy. But I also thought not to buy too expensive so I would go crazy if I break it!
Here’s my first engine start at my home floor…
Today I took a ride with some best paths I know nearby. Temperature was +3 c but I had enough clothes and didn’t feel cold at all.
Here’s some videos from todays rides:
This path is only 7km’s away from my home!
In this path I meet some moosehunters but they say that they’re on the break so it’s no problem that I’m riding here…
Here I take a detour to the forest.
These paths goes very near to Turku higway and under it.
The longest video I took today. With some quite hard part in 17:00.
This is from the sand-pit in Ojakkala.
Here in 03:10 I try to make a jump from the small sand-pit but I fail. Then I’ll try to do it again, still too slow speed but I made it all the way up.
This is mainly gravel, with a shortcut path to another gravel…
This is a sandpit very near to Myllylampi (Vihti) and then a path just beside a railroad.
Again a sandpit (This one is in Lohja) and there’s a motocross track too. After that some forestroad with nice speed.
This is a nice path under the powerline.
And another path under the powerline.
Then finally some paths very close to my home.
From Barcelonnette to south we chose D 908 instead of Col de la Cayolle (this would be actual part of the Route des Grandes Alpes). I think it is more interesting to ride Col d’Allos & Col des Champs (like we did)!
But before it starts to climb to the mountain Pass you need ride a long time endlessly twisting road following the valley. The river below you goes further and further while you’re climbing higher and higher.

Finally I had to stop and check if I can see the river anymore??!!
Then starts the actual climb to the Col d’Allos:
In the top of this beautiful mountain pass we saw absolutely stunning views and I took the best picture of the whole trip here!

When riding down from Col d’Allos I had a very scary moment (03:55 in the video)!! A car came from the opposite direction just behind the blind corner… and the road is very narrow and there are no rails! I think my heart stopped for a second!!! But luckily I didn’t have too much speed.
Then we rode Col des Champs! This was extremely narrow road in the middle of the forest. It felt like a jogging-path or a mountainbike-path! It had bumps and dikes… But luckily no traffic! Also in the top of Col des Champs was very quiet (and beautiful!)

The road down from Col des Champs (to east) is wider and easier to ride.
Then we rode to Valberg tourist- ans skiresort and from there we rode to Col de la Couillole.
(video here)
From there we were all waiting the final climb for this day -Col de Turini! But before we found the right mountain pass we took the wrong turn!! (Or actually we didn’t make the turn!) After missing the turn the GPS told us to climb to Ilonse… and we did!

It was 13 kilometers ride to the wrong direction!! But luckily it was very nice road and we didn’t feel bad to ride it back…
…So we could finally start the way to Col de Turini. It is simply amazing! There are so many tight corners and hairpins that I think I was feeling a little bit dizzy! And also it felt like it’s climbing a lot! Like at least 2500 meters! But actually the summit of the Turini is “only” 1607 meters high!! But gosh! What an amazing ride!!

That red spot is Timo with his Honda VFR!
From the south-end of Turini we still had few nice corners to ride (from Sospel to Menton) -or actually our place to stay was Le Relais de Monti few kilometers noth from the city of Menton. We would spend the next 3 nights here! (Nice place, I recommend it!)
The route for the day 11 was like this!
KTM 690 Enduro is 1 cylinder engine with quite nice power, easy to ride in almost everywhere! It has some vibration in the handlebar but it doesn’t bother me -So I desided to try my Sony 4k-camera in it.
But oh no… It just doesn’t work! The vibration makes the camera shake, rattle and roll (it makes the resonance depending the rpm of the engine), and in some parts it’s very disturbing watch the video! But then again in some parts of the video the picture is quite ok!
This is the first video of the routes I rode yesterday. Second video here:
Maybe one ore two still more to come…
This was one of the first rides after my crash in Romania last July. I had my Honda waiting for me in Finland when I had to leave the XR far away from home.
It’s also a big surprise that I haven’t taken this road to the video before?! It’s very good road very near to Mäntsälä and there is one corner where I’ve seen quite many crashes. It is more than 90 degrees to the right (in this video 03:50) but here I’m taking it very easily because I’m still careful after my crash.
Here is Vanha Soukkiontie:
And here is the video:
It’s november and I’m still riding! Yes it has been very nice weather with nice temperatures over 10 degrees celsius and sunshine. Today I got my newest toy: Sony FDR-X1000V action video camera. It has 4k video quality! And ofcourse I had to test it!
Now I need to buy a TV that has 4K resolution. my PC screen has it already.
And another here!
