  • Since the TET App was taken down there has been a quite big need for TET route preview!
Now it’s finally possible! The TET “head office” was contacted by one rider and web developer who told he could build this kind of page. The application is 100% built in-house, collaboratively, and has been a great proof of concept for learning how can we harness the will to help from talented members of our community. We give you https://atlas.transeurotrail.org/
    This page has these features:
    – Collects general statistics about each country’s total length, and an always up to date total length of the TET as a whole.
    – Displays all TET tracks on an easy to browse map.
    – Shows waypoints (POI’s)
    – Gives an overview of section numbers for each country.
    – Provides information about names and lengths of sections.
    – Points users to the main TET website country download pages.

    – Has a link to email the linesman (report a problem on the track)

  • It feels like the days are exremely long and time is passing by very slowly for me.
But luckily I have few things I need to do for my bike before the midsummer festival and the monday after that weekend. Early morning on that day I will start my Adventure!
I will call it “Baltic Edge Adventure” and I even made my own introduction for the videos that I will publish from that trip. Here’s the intro video:

  • The first real adventure (or actually dual-sport) bike that I bought was KTM 690 Enduro R.
    It was April 1st 2016…

I didn’t have a proper GPS device to do the navigation when OffRoading with this bike. I was trying to manage with TomTom… But that just didn’t work! So the first proper GPS was
    Garmin GPSMap 64
Pros: Easy to use, works with AA batteries, No bugs
Cons: Difficult to use (no touch screen), Very small screen and not very bright

Then the second device was Garmin Montana 600
Pros: Very easy to use (Touchscreen)
Cons: Problems with charging, not very bright screen

Third was Samsung Active Tab 2 with Osmand App
Pros: Super big screen, Osmand is very good App
Cons: Problems with charging, didn’t like the Osmand maps

Then I got Garmin Montana 700
I also made a comparison video between Samsung Tab and Montana 700
Pros: Easy to use, big screen
Cons: Problems with charging, Not possible to adjust GPX track line thickness

And then I got Garmin Zumo XT2
I made a comparison video between Montana 700 and Zumo XT2
Pros: Very bright screen, Very big screen, Very versatile and diverse to use
Cons: Maybe too complex menu, Too high screen resolution (thin lines on the ToPo map are not easy to see!)

  • Insta360 X5

360° camera with excellent picture and video quality!
Finally bought this camera and I’ve been testing it few times. The first ride with motorcycle I did about week ago and the video is in Youtube:

I’m very happy that this camera has now the possibility to record 2 audio channels at the same time (same as AcePro 2). But there’s a prolem if I have them both with me and if they are both connected to my helmet phone! But that problem is sorted if I just unconnect the other one (probably this X5 will not be connected).
On the next day we made a longer ride in Kiikala area! Now I had both of my cameras with me.

    Kiikala adventure

  • I named my bike quite long time ago as “The Swan” but I haven’t been using ti too much.
This spring has been very lucky so far. No big technical problems with the bike! So I have a chance to do some smaller fixings and services. Here the bike is getting new a drivechain and sprockets. And also the brakefluid is now new!
New chain is the same that was installed to the bike in autumn 2022: D.I.D. X-ring golden chain. Sprockets are the original size.

The old chain I had in the bike about 20k km’s. I think it’s quite good amount!

Front sprocket 15-teeth and new chain
    Finishing the chain
    JT Rear sprocket, 47-teeth
    Ready
  • First time making a longer ride with a small group of bikes (in 2025).
All the bikes in this ride are totally different!
    1. BMW G650XChallenge (my bike)
    2. CF Moto 450 MT
    3. Suzuki V-Strom 800DE
    4. Husqvarna FE501
    And we had a blast!

  • In January all the snow melted and in february we got only few cm’s more and that didn’t stay long…
So before the March was even in the halfway…. I was riding!! Season 2025 is now started.

I was riding again on sunday but the footage from that ride is not very good. So there’s no video coming from that one. But later this spring and summer… there will be more!

  • KTM is doing fine, it’s the biggest motorcycle manufacturer in Europe. BUT…
It just has totally too much of debt! It’s too early to say what will happen for this giant company.
Maybe BMW will buy a part of the factory/ brand? Who knows?
    Here’s a video to watch:

“KTM mechanics have been specially trained to remove a few thousand dollars from your wallet…”

  • New bicycle

I’ve been bicycling quite a long time with my Montana MTB… I would say it was almost 30 years! Now I started to feel that I want a new one and from the small local shop I found this Madison Grizzly 29.

I’ve now done some bicycling with it 4 times and I’m very happy with it!
Here’s a video of my first ride:

And my 4th time I took already the train towards Hanko… but I didn’t go to the final station!
I jumped off the train in Lappohja (Lappvik) and first I wanted to ride to the beach and then continue to Harparskog line area. There is a lot of forest roads that are blocked with the gate so I can’t go riding there with my motorcycle. Bicycle is a perfect choice!
    Here is the route:

From Lappohja beach to Skogby Ironworks and to Harparskog…

This bicycle ride was so much fun!! I’m thinking to do something very similar also this weekend!
For this bike it’s a good idea to buy also the winter tires (I don’t need them now) and maybe in the future there’s going to be a lot more of bicycling content in this blog?!

  • Olin jo 13 vuotta sitten mukana ajamassa Eduskuntatalolle muutaman sadan muun motoristin joukossa vastustaaksemme moottoripyörien määräaikaiskatsastusta.

Aihe on silti ponnahtanut esiin mediassa useinkin ja tällä hetkellä EU ajaa voimakkaasti katsastuspakon puolesta kaikissa EU-maissa. Suomi vastustaa ihan ministeritasolla!
Ministeri Lulu Ranne esitti voimakkaan mielipiteensä SMOTO:n Motoparlamentissä MP Messujen yhteydessä.
    Kauppalehden juttu by Janne Tervola.

SMoto esittää että komission esittämästä moottoripyörien katsastusvelvollisuudesta tulisi voida poiketa kansallisesti jatkossakin.

Edit. 04.12.2025 Hyviä uutisia Euroopan päättäjiltä. Mutta vielä taitaa olla edessä käsittely Euroopan Parlamentissa.
