Kawasaki KLE500 has 451cc parallel twin and 21″ front wheel (17″ rear). Almost all other specs are still unknown.

BMW F450GS has 420cc parallel twin. It weights 178kg and it has 48hp.

  • Last week in Milano was again the biggest motorcycle exhibition in the world: Eicma 2023
This time there were many new models that are interesting and I will introduce few of them here.
    Honda NX500

CB500X will be NX500 from now on. The technical specs will be pretty much the same than in CB500X. But the look will be very close to it’s bigger brother 750 TransAlp.

    Royal Enfield 450 Himalayan

New Himalayan will be much lighter and much more adventure ready! 40 hp, 195kg and 21 inch front wheel tells quite a lot about this bike. But if you really want to know more check ItchyBoots YouTube channel, she’s riding this bike already in India even it’s not in full production yet.

    Kove 800X Super Adventure

Kove bikes are hardly sold in Finland yet! But they have a dealer here and it will be very interesing to see these!! It has almost 100hp and it weights 185kg! These specs are pretty much everything that all the adventure riders are expecting about the bike.

    Triumph Tiger 900 Rally

This is still one of my favorite bikes! I did only a short test ride with it few years ago. Now they made it even better!
It has now 106hp and it weights 228kg. I would say it’s totally ready for long long adventures!

And then 2 bike models that were introduced but only as a street models. And everyone is waiting the adventure model to be revealed very soon or at least next year at EICMA.

    Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono

First time in 30 years Ducati presents one cylinder engine! But what a beast it is! It has 77hp and the bike weights 151kg! There has been already artist drawings about the Enduro model:

I can say I like it very much!!

    KTM 990 Duke

KTM has mad adventure models from every street models so it’s pretty obvious that there will be 990 adventure! This has 123hp and the bike weights 180kg (dry weight).

  • Eicma 2021 was in November but there was not too many interesting bikes.
Now when we are already in 2022 it is interesting anyway to look the newcomers for this year.

    1. Aprilila Tuareg 660
This bike is coming straight to the same category than Yamaha T700 so it will not be easy to find buyers… Or is it? The adventure segment is growing fast, more and more new bikers starting their adventures every day/ week!

    80hp – 70Nm – 187kg – Seat height 86cm – 18 L tank

    2. MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 9.5
This one is not coming to the stores yet in 2022. But it proves that all manufactures really are interested about this adventure segment. Maybe even more interesting is the little brother Lucky Explorer 5.5

    125hp – 85Nm – 220kg – 85cm seat height – 20 L tank

    3. Honda NT1100
It’s quite long time since Honda had an affordable big touring bike. This new NT 1100 will be filling the missing gap. It has the same engine than 1100 Africa Twin but after that pretty much everything is different.

    100hp – 104Nm – 238kg – 82cm Seat height – 20,4 L tank

    5. Harley Davidson Pan America 1250
This bike is been in stores allready for awhile and there is a lot of test riding videos of this bike!
But it is so BIG newcomer and remarkable new model to the market. Everybody’s even saying that it is not bad at all! It is actually very good!! Harley Davidson has now an Adventure Bike!

    150hp – 127Nm – 240kg – 79cm Seat height – 21,2 L tank
  • Helsinki Motorcycle exhibition 2019

This time it was very interesting! There was so many new models it felt like there’s no time enough to get to know all of them. Luckily I’m not a big fan of sportbikes… So few bikes wasn’t so interesting to me.

    1. KTM 790 Adventure
Maybe the biggest group of interested viewers was around this bike. It’s no wonder. The bike looks very good! It has hew parallel twin engine that KTM introduced last year. The engine has little bit less power than in 790 Duke but of course the torque is better is all rpm’s. Bike has almost all possible electronics: traction control, cornering abs, offroad abs, ridemodes and so on. It has 20 litres tank that gives the bike easily more than 400 km’s range on the road. Tank is placed around the engine so the center of gravity is very low. Price for this bike is 18500€ in Finland!

    Tank around engine
It was difficult to take pictures of this bike! There was so much people all around it all the time.

    2. Yamaha 700 Tenere
Another adventurebike but totally different kind of idea! This is simple, not too much electronics and it looks more ready for an OffRoad ride! It’s almost 6000€ cheaper than KTM! The final price is still open but they said it will not be more than 12800€! 200mm travel is not much but they’ve tested this bike quite long time so I guess they think it’s enough. 16 liters tank gives this bike more than 300 km’s range.

It should’ve been white-red bike in the show!
But this look very good! It calls me to make an offroad ride right now!

    3. BMW R1250GS
And here is another adventurebike but yet again totally different kind of thinking. This is legend of all touring/ adventurebikes but now it has bigger engine, more power and torque and it’s again more expensive. It has simply everything you can ever imagine the bike could have… -Ok, no reverse gear or automatic gearbox but anyway.
The price for adventure version is more than 31000€ in Finland

Big bike to make long rides and tours

    4. Suzuki Katana
Suzuki makes a nice return to interesting and “modern” bikes. But the funny thing is that the design is very retro when it is based on 80’s Katana.
The engine they take from GSX-S1000F so it delivers very nice power and easy riding. And the way it looks it will always give strong feelings to all pure motorcyclists!

    Katana

    5. Triumph 1200 SpeedTwin
Triumph presents new line with 1200 Twin engine. The bike still looks totally retro but the engine is now more like modern and sporty. It delivers 96 hp with 112Nm torque in 4950rpm. Compare this with T100 engine: 64hp and 80Nm in 3800rpm -you can say that there is a big difference.

  • BMW R1200GS
    BMW 1200GS

Oh jeez, where to begin… This steaming pile of excrement’s undeserved popularity is outweighed only by its actual weight. Follow the crowd, independent thought is over-rated! Pointless 1930s technology brought to the present for absolutely no reason. Terrible suspension. 0/10

    KTM 1290 Super Adventure

    KTM 1290

Making well over 600hp this is the official bike of the mid-life crisis. Your wife might even stop sleeping with the mailman when you get one of these babies! Unreliable doesn’t begin to describe it though, the airbox sucks like your mom after 3 glasses of Four Cousins. Terrible suspension. 0/10

    KTM 1090 Adventure

    KTM 1090

Want a 1290 but too much of a pansy to handle the power? This is for you! Terrible suspension. 0/10

    BMW F800GS

    BMW 800GS

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!! Terrible suspension. 0/10

    2018 Africa Twin Adventure Sports

    Honda Africa Twin 1000

Like a worse KTM 990. Can you say “under-powered” Making only 95hp, this bike is rendered practically useless. 15 years of waiting for this? Let down of the century! Terrible suspension. 0/10

    KTM 990 Adventure

    KTM 990

Like a worse Africa Twin. Ugly as the night, looks like a Matric metalwork project. Fuel consumption rivals that of a Land Cruiser, rendering any trip longer than 15km impossible. Suspension is terrible.  0/10

    Honda CRF250 Rally

    Honda 250 Rally

Honda has fooled a handful of idiots into thinking this delivery bike is dual sport. It even has them paying over 90k for a bike that should be dropping off Debonairs at your house on Friday evening. Suspension is absolutely terrible. 0/10

    Yamaha 1200 Super Tenere

    Yamaha Super Tenere 1200

You want a 1200GS in blue, but without the free muffins? It costs HOW MUCH? Absolutely terrible suspension. 0/10

    Yamaha XT660Z Tenere

    Yamaha XT660Z Tenere

This bike weighs almost as much as 1200GS but with one fourteenth of the power. Kymco scooters will flatten you at the traffic lights. Only an absolute idiot would opt for this abortion of a motorcycle. Has a long fuel range, so you’ll be subjected to hours and hours of excruciating seat time. Suspension=terrible. 0/10

    Triumph Tiger 800

    Triumph Tiger 800

Haha don’t even kid me. So bad even Triumph itself fled from the country, leaving us stuck with this pathetic mess. It depreciates faster than the Rand during a Zuma speech. And reliability? It’s British in every sense of the word! Avoid at all costs. Suspension is so terrible. 0/10

    Kawasaki KLR650

    Kawasaki KLR650

“Hello, this is the 1960s calling, we want our technology back please!” A face only a blind mother could love, this almost out-ugly’s the KTM 990. A reversing Fiat UNO has a higher top speed. Suspension is terrible. 0/10

    Suzuki DR650

    Suzuki DR650

See KLR650 review but much, much worse. “It’s old so it must be reliable”, haha, yeah right. Carry some extra oil buddy! Terrible suspension. 0/10

    KTM 690 Enduro

    KTM 690

You have to be a special brand of stupid to want to cover long distance on a glorified dirt bike. Luckily, there’s this steaming turd for that! You want to pay over a hundred grand for a pimped-up plaasbike? As reliable as an investment opportunity email from a Prince in Nigeria. Suspension? Terrible. 0/10

    Husqvarna 701 Enduro

    Huswqawjqwskwarna 701

A KTM 690 in yellow. From the country that invented ABBA comes an equally terrible bike. You’ll be screaming “Mamma Mia!” at the discomfort that comes with riding anything further than 2km. Also, try saying “Husqvarna” without sounding like an orangutan having a stroke. Suspension is terrible. 0/10
